Farm Fresh Food Haul – Willowtree Farm

As we continue to live in the changed circumstances that COVID-19 have pushed on us, we find new ways to do the things we need to do and get the things we need to get. One of the things we’ve been missing is our local Farmers’ Market.

Luckily, some of the vendors from the Pickering Farmers’ Market have gone virtual/digital with their sales and we were able to get some really great stuff from Willowtree Farm in Port Perry, ON.

Jess took a look at the substantial list of offerings, and in the end, we decided on the ‘small basket’ option to get a sampling of what the farm has to offer right now.

Website Shop Basket Description
The small basket is full with $15 of Willowtree Farm seasonal produce and $15 (bread, 2L Kawartha Dairy milk and dozen eggs). The large basket is full with $30 of Willowtree Farm seasonal produce and $20 of bread products, milk and eggs.

🧺 2L Kawartha Dairy 2% Milk
🧺 12 Eggs
🧺 Loaf of 14 Grain Bread
🧺 Carrots
🧺 Apples
🧺 Potatoes
🧺 Tomato
🧺 Onion
🧺 Red Bell Pepper

To go with our basket, we ordered the honey and flour that you see in the photo. In total we came out at about $40, got all of things listed and in the photos. We’ll use and enjoy them all. And, we can gross them off of our regular grocery shopping list since we would have picked most if not all of these specific things up anyway.

Here’s how it all looks in a photo.

When we placed the order we had to choose a pick-up/delivery option. For $7 we could have had our ordered delivered right to our front door –  which isn’t a bad deal at all. But, because we didn’t have anything else to do, we decided to make the quick drive to Town Brewery in Whitby, ON (one of Willowtree Farm’s pick-up locations) and grabbed our basket for a lovely charge of $0.

Since we were at Town Brewery for our pick-up, we went ahead and grabbed four Chill As Frig tallboys as a treat. Jess isn’t a beer drinker, so really it’s just a treat for me. I’m a lucky guy.

Impressions of sweetness with a pleasant, high malt flavour. Dry, balanced and sessionable. 4.1% ABV

The entire process, from order to pick-up, was super easy. When we pulled into the Town Brewery parking lot was called them and told them we were there for our beer, popped the trunk, and an employee brought it out and placed it in the back. While we waited for them to do that, Jess went to the Willowtree Farm table at the front, got our produce, eggs, milk, bread, honey, and flour. We were only there for a few minutes, got everything we came for and left happy.

With pick-up options in Peterborough, Toronto, Whitby, and Fenelon Falls – and delivery available for Pickering, Ajax, and Oshawa – I highly recommend that you check these folks out and get some farm-fresh food for the family.

Pick-up Spots: Bobcaygeon Brewing Company (Peterborough) | Redwood Theatre (Toronto) | Town Brewery (Whitby) | Willowtree Farm Stand (Fenelon Falls)

As a little bonus, before we go, here’s a selfie that Bubba and I took when we were done unpacking our haul.
