2020 NFL Week 1 Picks!

Welcome back football fans. After a long offseason (though not longer than it could have been) the NFL is ready to kickoff and start the 2020-21 campaign!

Over and over again in my preseason listening and learning I have heard experts put strong emphasis on continuity. There haven’t been a ton of practices, there have been no preseason games, there have been a lot of virtual meetings and things of that nature that don’t include running around on the football field and getting ready for real game action. So, it makes sense that teams who are running back a similar playbook, roster, and philosophy will be in a good position to succeed this season.

With that said, talent still matters very much. So, a team like Tampa Bay that brought in Tom Brady, Gronk, and recently Leonard Fournette should improve. And a team like the Dallas Cowboys who added CeeDee Lamb at WR and switched head coaches from Jason Garrett to Mike McCarthy could be in good shape too. And, as much as I hate to say it, (though the defence is depleted) I’m not ready to count out the Patriots and I’ve always like Cam Newton.

Because one of everyone’s favourite preseason things to do is pick the Super Bowl… I’ll take the Kansas City Chiefs in a repeat over the Dallas Cowboys.

I’ll also take the Buffalo Bills to win the AFC East, the Steelers to get back on track, and Aaron Rodgers to play his final season in Green Bay regardless of how things go for the Packers.

And now, onto the NFL Week 1 picks!

2019 NFL Season Record: 172 W – 83 L – 1 Tie

Note: If any of the games on the schedule for this week are cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19 or player protests, I’m just going to remove them until they are played again. AND I completely support the players in their decisions to let their voices be heard for social justice or their own health during the pandemic!
