A Dozen Questions with Dad – Neil Anthony

We’re back with another edition of A Dozen Questions with Dad to share with y’all, and I’m happy to be sharing this one from my buddy Neil Anthony.

I’ve known Neil for something more than 5 years now. Back before we were both dads and we were spending a lot more time thinking about our work in music than we were about kids TV or toys. Now, Neil has two little girls (Rowan 4 & Delainey 3 months) and is crushing the girl dad game.

Along with dad life, Neil and I also share a love of the Dallas Cowboys (we both got to meet Emmitt Smith on the same night), the Toronto Raptors, Foo Fighters, and our work in music, with country in the spotlight.

If you like yourself some country music, interviews, and the chance to get some requests in – listen to Neil on the Afternoon Drive on Pure Country 106. You can also follow him on Instagram and Twitter, and check out his Facebook and YouTube too!

Thanks to Neil for taking the time to play along with A Dozen Questions with Dad. His answers are here.

Check ’em out!

A Dozen Questions with Dad – Neil Anthony

Q1. What is your favourite curse word alternative to use around the kids?

Shoot or Frig

Q2. What is your favourite thing to watch with your kids? (TV, movies, YouTube, etc.)

Barbie’s Dream House Adventures lol

Q3. Which kids program from your childhood do you wish was in HD and still relevant now for your kids?

The Flintstones, Looney Tunes (Original) and Original Ninja Turtles

Q4. Which fictional dad (TV, movies, books, comics, etc.) do you like to think you most resemble or would you want to resemble as a dad?

A little Red Forman (That 70’s Show) + Danny Tanner (Full House)

Q5. What is the one toy your kids love that you wish would go missing?

A Talking Singing Dog, most annoying voice and would go off randomly day and night.

Q6. Which of your hobbies/interests have you or do you hope to pass on to your kids?

My love of music and sports.

Q7. Do you have a go-to meal for daddy cooks or solo daddy dinner night?

Grilled Cheese because I make the best according to Rowan.

Q8. Do you feel like you were sufficiently warned about how many times you’d get hit in the nuts as a dad?

Absolutely Not, How I managed to have a 2nd kid is beyond me. Rowan has perfect aim.

Q9. On a scale of 1 to 10, how close is your experience as a dad to what you thought it would be before you were a dad?

1, I never thought I would be a dad but now I wouldn’t want to be anything else. These girls are my life.

Q10. What is the most challenging thing about being a dad for you? (ie. discipline, organization, leaving to go to work, helping with school work, explaining the world. etc.)

Work/Life Balance. I’m currently working from home and it’s tougher than when I had to leave to go to work. Rowan doesn’t fully understand that daddy is still working during the day and can’t just stop and play, even though he’s home.

Q11. Can you share a proud dad moment or memory with us?

My favourite memory so far is watching Rowan at 2 years old dancing to Midland at Boots and Hearts in 2018. As soon as they hit the stage, she danced from the 1st note til the end.

Q12. What significant yet simple piece of advice would you give to other dads or dads-to-be?

When it comes to your sports teams, teach them early!
