5 Big Ideas We’re Taking into 2020 π‘
Y’all know the deal, 2019 is wrapping up and 2020 is coming and it’s time for all of the resolutions and goal setting and new year, new outlook posts.
I’ve got some of that coming in another post – but before we get to it, I wanted to look at five big ideas and energies that we can all take into 2020 with us.
As we wrap up 2019 and the 2010s it’s too easy to see all of the negatives that have seemed to rain down. Hate crimes, racism, bigotry, transphobia, homophobia, ignorance, and intentional awfulness all seem to be on the rise. And sometimes (often? always?) we feel powerless against them. But we aren’t.
1. We are the light and we can be the positivity that we feel we need to see in the world. We can fight against the dark and the lies and the hate. Do that. Fight hate with love. Fight lies with facts. Fight ignorance with information. Stand up for the vulnerable with they need it. Stand with marginalized groups as they fight too.
On an EXTREMELY MORE POSITIVE note, I have another idea.
2. From my Facebook: I would like to introduce a motion for 2020 that would see us all tell the people that we love and care for that we are Proud Of Them more often and more consistently.
Telling people that we love them is fantastic and needed. But telling them that we are proud of their accomplishments, efforts, determination, and for doing the best they can in any situation is something that I don’t know if we do enough of.
Let’s try it.
And that’s not the only positivity. I want more.
3. I created this version of the 2020 tweet that’s going around. And I mean it. It’s in the same vein as the being proud of each other post. It’s a call for all of us to prop each other up. I want it!
If you see a friend or family member post about something good that happened – join in their happiness and celebrate. If you a tweet with good news, like it and shoot that person a message of congratulations. Be part of happiness and celebrate things that are worth celebrating!

4. I like this one too. Shea Serrano is one of my favourite writers, Twitter follows, internet personalities, etc. He’s a three-time NY Times best-selling author. He leads the FOH army in supporting those in need and donating to charity and being great.
And as we lead into 2020, he’s giving us some big energy motivation. If you don’t know the meaning behind “shoot your shot”, it boils down to taking chances, trying the thing you want to do, jumping in with both feet, etc. etc. etc.
Let it be related to a more Canadian quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky
weβre shooting every shot in 2020 β wide open zone defense triple team whatever β every shot is going up

5. Here’s another energy I want you to take into 2020 – Kyle Lowry’s Big Ring Energy!
Lowry, the chronically underrated bulldog point guard of the World Champion Toronto Raptors has climbed the mountain, got himself a ring, and knows that he deserves it. I want you to feel the same way every single time you accomplish something. And I want you to remember it every single time someone takes a shot at you like a fan did recently when Kyle missed a shot in Indiana.
Ya, he missed the shot. It happens, that’s why we keep shooting. But missing one shot doesn’t take away from Kyle Lowry’s accomplishments. You missing your shot doesn’t take away from your accomplishments. Get your ring and don’t be afraid to remind people that you’ve got it!
Go into 2020 with light, positivity, and celebration. Take chances. Do the thing. And remember that you are the one that accomplished all of the things on your resume.
Happy New Year!
