Movember 2019: There’s Still Time To Mo! Sign Up Now! 👨🏽
Today is the 3rd of Movember, and if you’re a Mo Bro who has shaved and started growing in a moustache to your best ability, good for you! If you’re a Mo Sista that has started a Movember 2019 campaign, good for you!
If you haven’t started or signed up and you are thinking about being a Mo Bro or Mo Sista, there’s still time and please accept this as your official invitation. YOU CAN SIGN UP RIGHT NOW!!!
I’m biased, I’m invested, I’m a 10-year participant, so ya it’s not a surprise that I think you’d all make great participants.
Here’s a little something from movember.com – Funded Projects: 1,250+ // Men’s Health Partners: 20 // Countries: 20
“We work closely with our global men’s health partners to ensure collaboration, transparency and accountability for every project we fund. We monitor this through report cards which detail what we seek to achieve, key measures and the impact.” – Owen Sharp, CEO
Movember (and the Mo Bros and Mo Sistas) have raised a lot of money, have funded great projects, and created awareness and conversation over the last 17 years, and I’m proud to be a little part of that.
If you’ve never looked into participating but are interested, there’s not all that much to it. You can make it as complicated as you’d like by organizing events (#MoChaKaTO) doing photoshoots or whatever else you can come up with. Or, you can sign-up, grow your ‘stache, share your mospace link on your social channels and in emails to raise some money. It’s up to you.
Heck, the good folks at Movember have even broken it all down into five easy to follow rules.
The Official Rules from Movember.com!
Rule One: Once registered at movember.com each Mo Bro must begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face.
Rule Two: For the entire month of Movember each Mo Bro must Grow and groom a moustache.
Rule Three: Don’t fake it. No beards, no goatees and no fake moustaches.
Rule Four: Use the power of the moustache to create conversation and raise funds for men’s health.
Rule Five: Each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.
Over the last decade, these rules have had various importance to me, not in how I follow them, but how strictly I feel they should be followed.
For example, if you want to wear a fake moustache every dang day and tell everyone about Movember and raise money and awareness, I’m into it. HOWEVER, “no shave November” is NOT Movember, and anyone that tells you it is, or cheaps out and grows in a goatee because their ego won’t let them try the ‘stache on its own is failing in my books.
This is the part that I add in my gratitude for every single person that has donated to my campaign over the last decade. And also to every person that has come out to our Movember Challenge Karaoke Toronto event in that same time period. And also also to my lovely and loving fiancé for accepting my baby face and moustache for one month a year (she prefers the beard) and to Ollie who has been awesome about recognizing me and loving me and not being traumatized by my clean-shaven face at either 6 or 18-months-old. I’m a lucky guy.
So if you are a dad, a mom, an aunt or uncle or grandma or grandpa or friend or cousin or co-worker or neighbour of any man, this is my invitation to you. Join us, the Movember participants from 20 countries around the world as we try to improve men’s health and support the physical and mental wellbeing of the men we love.
I do understand that not everyone can participate – so if that’s the case I would ask that you consider making a donation to the Movember campaign of me or another Mo Bro or Mo Sista you know. And if you can please share links to Movember related content to help start and continue conversations, that would be swell as well.

Thank you all for reading and caring and helping to spread the word and helping to grow Movember and the impact that it has. I appreciate all of you.
Stay tuned for more Movember posts – including updates on the status of my moustache, maybe some cute toddler content with Ollie, and more.
