Ollie and the Summer of Car Shows!

Ollie has cars and trucks and motors and chrome in his blood. Hot rods and classics and all kinds of vehicles run through his family on his mama’s side, and this summer he’s had the chance to live the life of toddler wonder at car shows packed with shiny automobiles.

We hit Port Perry, Lindsay, and Oshawa as a happy little family. And Ollie and his mama visited our hometown show in Pickering while I was at Boots & Hearts. Four shows for a happy little boy to point and stare and try to touch cars that don’t belong to him.

Except for his grandpa Howie’s ’56 Chevy pickup that is.

Grandpa has a soft spot for his grand baby and has started letting him put his little hands on the truck, he pops him into the driver seat. He even lets him walk around in the bed. It’s cute and makes me smile even just to look back at the photos.

It makes his mama happy too.

In Port Perry, we got to hang out with my cousin Shannon, her beau Steve and their wee one Ellie while we walked up and down the street lined with classics. And Ollie got to climb (was lifted) into his great-grandpa’s Rambler to get his hands on the wheel and start wishing he was driving.

In Lindsay, Bubba got to really fall in love with the yellow ’56, which made for some awesome photos. We also had a nice lunch with grandpa during the show at Between the Bread. If you like grilled cheese and other sandwiches, we recommend it!

And in Oshawa, we walked around as a family with grandpa and with auntie Kass. We had soft serve ice cream (and didn’t make a mess), looked at Hot Wheels, Ollie met some doggos, and once again, our little future gearhead put the inspection on the truck.

It’s been a great summer of shows and we can’t wait for next year when he’ll be even more interested and able to enjoy the show…
