Baby’s First Birthday

Yesterday, Oliver was surrounded by friends and family as he opened presents and shoved a cupcake into his little mouth.

Today, this little baby boy is 1 year old! 🥳🎂🎈🎉🎁

I can tell you how cute he is. I can tell you how sweet he can be. I can tell you that his smile and laugh are two of my favourite things in the whole world.

Oliver’s birthday party was a celebration and opportunity for a lot of people to show some love. We made a playlist on Spotify with songs to play in the background, there were inflatable instruments for little kids to play with. There were some decorations and the party room in the condo was everything we needed it to be.

Aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, great-grandparents, cousins, friends – they were there with smiles and snuggles (when he would sit still for them) and gifts that were more than we could have hoped for. It would impossible (and probably boring for you) to list every gift, but this little boy was spoiled with a new wagon, new books, clothes, toys, gift cards, and we were lucky to have family pitch in with money that is going to turn into our Toronto Zoo membership!

Eating his birthday cupcake with everyone watching was a little slow to develop. There was a lot of looking and sticking his finger in the icing before he got started. But once he got going, he enjoyed it!

Thank you again to everyone who helped to make Ollie’s first birthday special. As a family, we’re blessed to have such great people around us.

xo ❤️

It’s wild to look at Ollie’s little face and see a one-year-old. He’s grown so much and learned so much. He’s sweet and funny. His smile is the best thing. He makes me feel lucky to be me, being his daddy.

Oliver is a happy, healthy, smart, curious, ridiculous little boy and I am so happy to have made it through this first year and to move onto the next one.

Note: I really like this photo of Oliver with his great-grandparents. These are my grandma and grandpa Davis and I’m glad Bubba gets to see them when we have the chance.

Note: I also really like this photo of Ollie in his mama’s arms during the party. I love their love.

Note: I also really really like this photo of Ollie on my shoulder that his grandma Wendy snapped at the party.
