Parenting Tip: Once Upon A Child Clearance Haul (Take The Deals)

Hand-me-downs can be an invaluable asset and necessary reality in the outfitting of a baby’s wardrobe and bedroom. But sometimes you need to pick up something that someone in your circle does have to hand down, and that’s where second hand shops like Once Upon A Child come in really handy.

Last week we were in the area of the Once Upon A Child location in Ajax, ON and stopped in to see what they had marked down in their clearance sale. It was amazing!

From June 25 to July 22, clearance sales range(d) from 50% Off to 90% Off clearance items, with deals like 10 For $10 and Dollar Days mixed in. The opportunity for parents (and other loving outfitters of children) to save some money and bring home gently used clothes, toys, etc.

We shopped on the last day of the 70% sale, and came home with some great clothes for Oliver. And all of it came at a fraction of the price that we would have paid without a sale and especially if we had bought new off the rack.

We came home with a sweet denim jacket (size: 3-6 months), denim shorts (size: 0-3 months) a short sleeved plaid button down shirt (size: 0-3 months), and 1 shorts and tank top outfit (size: 0-3 months), 1 pants and shirt outfit (size: 0-3 months), and 1 awesome Superman romper (size: 3-6) for a total of $10.08.

The most we paid for any item was $1.95, marked down from $6.50. LOVE IT!

Here’s the thing… this post is part brag (I know), but it’s also part tip, and it goes back to our crib buying adventure from Best Buy – TAKE THE DEAL!

We all know that expenses add up and up and up. We all know that we like giving new things to our kids. We all know that giving new things to our kids bumps up those expenses. But sometimes there are ways to give new (or almost new) things to our kids without breaking the bank.

And while there may be a stigma attached to hand-me-downs and buying second hand – I am here to tell you all right now that I’ve got your back. Don’t let anyone shame you for taking the deal. Don’t let anyone put you down for doing what you’ve got to do for your family.

If you’re lucky, you’ll find a denim jacket for your baby that only costs you $1.95 and makes you jealous that you still haven’t found one for yourself at a price point that makes sense.

Note: This post is not sponsored by Once Upon A Child – but hey, I’m open to working together it if y’all want to work something out!
